My skills as an artist have grown over the course of the year. I have learned what kinds of things appeal to the eyes, and I have learned how to play tricks on the eyes or get them to follow lines. My photos have gotten better and better with their focus, and with the things I decide to take pictures of. I have become good at finding the right angle to take pictures at in order to make things look better. I took chances with the MHS website assignment because there wasn’t a whole lot of flattering things to take photos of, and I had to create things that looked nice.
My favorite assignment was the elements of art photos that we took at Tangerini’s Farm. It was difficult to find a picture for every single element but in the end I got some of my favorite photos out of this assignment.
In the image above, I was able to use rule of thirds with the dead tree, and there is also a section where there is no trees, and that tends to draw my eye to it. That is also in the rule of thirds. The colors in this image are really interesting because the stone is a very light gray, and it looks good next to the very dark green. The sky is also very light, but it is still a shade of blue which makes it flow nicely with the green. I learned how to use these skills from the elements project.
The image below connects to me because baseball is one of my favorite sports/ things to do, and Fenway is my favorite place. I love the way the lighting looks in this picture and I love the contrast between light and dark. I like the way the focus is on the field, but there is still stuff going on around the field that you can see if you focus.
I think that stricter deadlines would help. I always got my work done, but when I wasn’t worried about getting it done right away because I wasn’t worried about a deadline. I think if I had deadlines I would have been more motivated.
Art has a special way of speaking to everyone in many different ways. Anyone of any language can understand art. It is very important because art has a way of connecting with everyone and delivering a message to everyone. Art is an open-ended message to anyone, and it is the coolest form of communication because anyone can understand it.
